    Oceana Football Confederation

    The Oceana Football Confederation does not receive an automatic berth in World Cup France '98. The Oceana winner had to compete in a home-and-home series against the fourth place team from the Asian Football Confederation for a berth, which went to Iran of the AFC.

    Ten nations entered into qualifying competition. Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, and Tahiti received byes into the semi-final rounds.
